On-siteEngineeringFull-time

At AMD, we believe technology can change lives for the better. It can heal us, entertain us, and make us more connected, productive, and understanding of the world around us. We’re looking for talent who want to leave the planet better than they found it—people who don’t shy away from humanity’s challenges but are determined to help solve them. AMD powers the next generation of supercomputing, high-performance computing, cloud, and AI. Every role contributes to technology that moves the world forward.

About the role

Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring a Member of Technical Staff (MTS) Silicon Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. This role involves overseeing definition, design, verification, and/or documentation for ASIC development, including architecture design, logic design, and system simulation. You will define module interfaces/formats for simulation, lead the development of multidimensional designs, and evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, timing, and power use.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop ASIC/layout designs, addressing complex issues through in-depth analysis. This role drives projects or processes of significant technical importance, exercising independent judgment to select methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria. Multiple openings are available.

Responsibilities

  • Determine architecture design, logic design, and/or system simulation for ASIC development.
  • Define module interfaces/formats for simulation.
  • Lead the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits.
  • Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, timing, and power use.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues in ASIC/layout design.
  • Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance.
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of AMD products.
  • Utilize experience with computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and design techniques, to resolve complex issues creatively.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field. OR a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in the same fields with five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role (or five (5) years with a Bachelor’s degree).

Skills

The following skills are required:

  • UVM, OVM, VMM, and/or System Verilog, Verilog test benches, and usage of simulation tools/debug environments (e.g., Synopsys VCS, Cadence IES) to test block-level/full-chip SOCs and FPGAs.
  • State-of-the-art verification techniques, including assertion and coverage-driven verification.
  • Experience with different phases of ASIC and/or full-custom chip development.
  • Verification experience with protocols including AXI3/4, DDR4/5, HBM, PCIe, Processors, and Graphics.
  • Experience as a verification architect, establishing verification methodology, tools, and infrastructure for high-performance FPGAs, SOCs, and/or VLSI designs.
  • Gate-level simulation, power verification, reset verification, contention checking, and abstraction techniques.
  • Verification management tools and database management for regression management.
