MTC Language Support Assistant | Part-Time

Responsibilities

• Provides language support to in-field groups.
• Assists in resolving issues, answering questions, and providing support to area leaders, mission leaders, language coordinators, and missionaries for missionary language resources, including EnglishConnect for Missionaries, BYU–Pathway Worldwide language development report, elicited imitation (EI), and self-assessment (LSA).
• In-field language tutoring and mentoring programs.
• Records interactions and tracks and reports issues.
• Collaborates and coordinates with partners to resolve issues.
• Provides support on resources to help missionaries learn the mission language.
• Aids in developing, updating, or designing language curriculum.
• Assists with pilot testing.
• Implements adjustments.

Qualifications

• Experience with second-language learning or teaching, including ESL or TESOL.
• Excellence in communicating professionally and clearly, both verbally and written.
• Analytical, creative, detail-oriented, and proactive skills, and the ability to work well with ambiguity and pressure.
• Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Strong ability to cooperate and give/receive input from others.
• Strong ability to follow directions and align with leaders.
• Aptitude for learning and successfully using new software applications.
• Technical writing experience.
• Familiarity with second-language teaching methods.
• Experience working with mission leaders, language coordinators, and missionaries.
• Familiarity with current missionary language resources and curriculum.
• Experience teaching a second language in a professional setting (MTC, university, or high school).
• Coursework or experience in curriculum development.
