MT (PRN, AS NEEDED)

Responsibilities

• Collections, receives and accesses a variety of specimens.
• Performs and documents laboratory tests and/or results.
• Performs and records calibration according to policy.
• Performs and records daily Quality Control and documents corrective action.
• Performs and records maintenance procedures according to policy.
• Performs basic clerical duties related to test data with notification of critical values according to policy.
• Performs and records analysis of proficiency test according to policy.

Requirements

• Maintains assigned lab section to include QC, maintenance logs, inventory of supplies, and procedure manuals.
• Complies with policies and procedures regarding department operations, fire safety and infection control.
• Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
• Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
• Completes annual safety, infection control and educational requirements.
• Is knowledgeable of the mission, ethics and goals of the department.
• Participates in CQI activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology (MT) from an accredited program.
• MT (ASCP) certification or MT classification as recognized by GDCH with certification.
• Certification: MT classification as recognized by ASCP, AAB, AMT, or HEW.
• Licensure: None.
• Education and/or in-services to verify ability to obtain specimens appropriately for the age of the patient i.e. Geriatrics, Pediatrics.
• CPR is required every two (2) years.
• Entry level into position with credentials and hospital orientation. Experience preferred.
