Responsibilities
- Contributes to the design and delivery of academic instructional programs to deaf/hard of hearing or deaf/blind students.
- Provides educational instruction and uses a variety of techniques to encourage appropriate behaviors.
- Candidates will be assessed for signing skills prior to hire.
Requirements
- Valid Minnesota teaching license- at minimum a Short Call Substitute License.
- Knowledge of the deaf/hard of hearing and deaf/blind students and educational practices.
- Fluency in American Sign Language.
- Ability to read and write English sufficient to understand written policies and procedures and education plans and to maintain records and documentation.
- Human relations skills sufficient to establish rapport with and provide instruction to students.
Qualifications
- Experience working with deaf/hard of hearing students.
- A valid MN DHH license.
- Demonstration of advanced sign skills.
Skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance).
- Ability to sit, stand and walk throughout the workday.
