Duties And Responsibilities
- Has a thorough knowledge of all athletic policies and implements them.
- Understands and enforces existing system, state, and league regulations.
- Aware of all public, staff, and departmental meetings requiring attendance.
- Serves as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration of Valley Unified Core Values.
- Attends all practices, games, and travel with participants to provide assistance, guidance, and safeguards.
- Trains athletes in training rules and unique regulations of the sport.
- Initiates programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
- Completes paperwork on all disabling athletic injuries and submits within 24 hours.
- Directs student managers, assistants, and statisticians.
- Determines discipline and outlines procedures for due process when necessary.
- Contracts parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible.
- Accounts for all equipment and collects costs for any lost or unreturned equipment.
- Organizes preseason meetings for parents, coaches, players, and guests.
- Promotes the sport within and outside the school through various means.
Qualifications
- Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport.
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
- Continues to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
- Serves as an appropriate role model for student athletes.
