MS Special Education Teacher | 2026-2027

About the Role

Amergis Staffing is seeking Moderate/Severe Special Education Teachers for the 2026/2027 school year in Chula Vista, CA. The Special Education Teacher, under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, provides quality services to special education students in kindergarten through grade 12. This role involves team participation in planning and implementing student programs, including special instruction, tutorial assistance, and consultation with general education staff.

Settings: Moderate/Severe (M/S) elementary grade level, self-contained classroom.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality special education services to students in K-12.
• Plan and implement student programs, including special instruction and tutorial assistance.
• Consult with general education staff to support student needs.
• Participate in team planning and program implementation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred).
• Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract, or district regulations.
• Minimum of one year of experience in a teaching environment (preferred).
• State Teacher Certification in one of the following (preferred):
  • Standard Elementary Teaching
  • Standard Secondary Teaching
  • Standard Special Teaching
• Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) (preferred).
• Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice.
• Current CPR certification (if applicable).
• TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable).
• Current health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
• Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Pay

Travel candidates (50+ miles): $2,870 weekly.

Local candidates: $2,450 weekly.

Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• 35 hours per week
• Start Date: August 2026
• Length: 2026/2027 School Year
