About the Role

As a Middle School Science Teacher, you will create and implement a flexible program and classroom environment that fosters student learning and personal growth. You will develop lesson plans aligned with established guidelines, build rapport with students, staff, and parents, and motivate students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge necessary for a strong educational foundation.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a program of instruction adhering to the company’s philosophy, goals, and objectives as outlined in adopted courses of study.
  • Create purposeful and effective lesson plans that maximize time on task and incorporate real-world, application-based examples.
  • Review student records to understand each student’s abilities and needs, maintaining accurate and complete records.
  • Maximize educational achievement through differentiated instruction, frequent diagnostic assessments, and tailored activities.
  • Refer students with suspected learning problems to appropriate support personnel.
  • Assign lessons, correct student work, and review oral presentations.
  • Coordinate class field trips as required and prepare students for state-mandated achievement assessments.
  • Stay current in subject matter knowledge and learning theory, contributing to the ongoing curriculum revision process.
  • Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to student maturity and interests, and aligned with CSUSA policies.
  • Maintain positive rapport with students, demonstrating patience and nurturing to support their growth.
  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom and playground behavior, maintaining order fairly and consistently.
  • Participate in curriculum planning with other staff members and incorporate diagnostic information from Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Take necessary precautions to protect supplies, equipment, and facilities for effective instruction.
  • Establish cooperative relations with parents/guardians, communicating clearly and positively via appropriate mediums.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and participate in parent communication activities and extracurricular events to foster a positive school culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong command of grade/subject-specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation, and feedback techniques.
  • Understanding of and commitment to CSUSA’s values.
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
  • Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
  • Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.

Work Environment

  • May involve exposure to or handling of hazardous chemicals.
  • Environment may be noisy during high student traffic periods.
  • Light physical work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
  • Somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.
