Responsibilities

  • Lesson Delivery: Teach lessons prepared by the absent teacher, ensuring continuity in student learning.
  • Daily Reporting: Provide written reports on the day's activities and offer feedback as requested by the building principal.
  • Policy Adherence: Follow all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures, maintaining consistency with regular teaching practices.
  • Consultation: Consult with the building principal or supervisor before initiating any lesson or procedure not specified in the teacher's plans.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain established routines and procedures, oversee student behavior, and ensure a positive learning environment.
  • School/Community Relations: Build and maintain good relations with faculty, staff, and the community, treating all information with confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
  • Completion of the District's Substitute Workshop.
  • Commitment to CSUSA's values of academic excellence, operational performance, superior culture, and financial health and growth.

Skills

  • Time Management: Prioritizing, organizing, and scheduling tasks effectively.
  • Computer Basics: Proficiency in Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Communication: Strong oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence.

Work Environment

Typical school working conditions, which may include noise during high student traffic periods. The role involves light physical work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently. The environment can be somewhat stressful due to frequent student activity.

FLSA Overtime Category

This position is non-exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
