MS Math Teacher

About the Role

Our teachers are responsible for creating interactive and engaging lessons that ensure student mastery of common core state standards. The position follows a 10-month schedule, with teachers guiding instruction, managing the learning process, and addressing students’ individual needs. Teachers monitor progress through interactive lessons and daily assessments while collaborating with students and parents to advance learning.

Responsibilities

• Teach and monitor students Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Provide instruction in both online and face-to-face settings.
• Teach from the academy or a designated remote location at least three days per week.
• Integrate STEM content and writing performance tasks in all subject areas.
• Collect, review, and provide feedback on student work samples.
• Prepare students for state standardized tests, including required travel to proctor site-based testing throughout Nevada.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with educational trends.
• Conduct regular conferences with parents/Learning Coaches and students to assess progress, documenting details in a database.
• Analyze data to identify student academic strengths and weaknesses and proactively track progress and attendance.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Assistive Technologies.
• Respond to students, parents/Learning Coaches, and NVCS staff within 24 hours via phone, email, or in person.
• Participate on IEP and pre-referral teams for students with special needs.
• Engage in Professional Learning Communities and extracurricular activities.
• Attend regular staff meetings and arrive at least fifteen minutes early for all face-to-face or live sessions.
• Alert administrators of any concerns about student progress or truancy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and professional experience.
• Strong knowledge of IDEA requirements.
• Experience coordinating academically-oriented clubs and extracurricular activities, as well as guiding adults and students.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Nevada teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education.
• Meets Highly Qualified status.

Schedule

• 10-month position (school year).
