Requirements

• Must be 21 years of age
• High School Diploma or GED (minimum requirement)
• 1 Reference Letter (does not apply to current CCPS staff)
• Current Florida Educator Certification or Athletic Coaching Certification (coaches with teaching certification are exempt from athletic coaching certification)
• Basic Life Support Program certification (First Aid, CPR, and AED)

Certification Details

The Florida Department of Education issues two types of Athletic Coaching Certificates:

• 3-Year Temporary Certificate: Issued only to allow a coach to complete requirements for the 5-Year Certificate. Not renewable.
• 5-Year Athletic Coaching Certificate:
  • Required for coaches paid a supplement by the school district who do not hold a Temporary or Professional Educator Certificate
  • Required for volunteer coaches who are CCPS employees but do not hold a Temporary or Professional Educator’s Certification
