About the role
The Department of Defense (DoD) is offering internships and fellowships at The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD) for individuals who are completing or have completed their bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree.
Responsibilities
- Engage in research activities within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to discovering, evaluating, optimizing, and advancing the understanding of chemical and acute non-kinetic threats, as well as medical countermeasures for safe and effective prophylaxis or treatment against these diverse challenges.
- Gain experience in operant behavioral testing, biosampling, molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques, physiological instrumentation and analysis, data management, software applications, record keeping, compliance training, and the principles of scientific study design.
- Review project portfolios and gain an overview of primary aims and methodologies.
- Develop a deeper conceptual and practical understanding of research methodologies while contributing to results and reporting.
Qualifications
- The qualified candidate will be currently pursuing a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree in an eligible discipline with an anticipated completion date of June 30, 2026 or have an earned degree within five years of the application date.
- U.S. military veterans who have been honorably discharged (or who have been medically discharged because of a service-connected disability) and who received a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree within ten years of the desired start date are also eligible.
- Strong applicants will demonstrate enthusiasm, adaptability, and a desire to learn.
Benefits
- You will receive a stipend to be determined by MRICD. Stipends are typically based on a participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location.
- Other provisions may include the following: Health Insurance Supplement, Relocation Allowance, Training and Travel Allowance.
Pay
$55,000.00 – $86,000.00 Yearly
Schedule
Appointments are initially for one year with the option to extend the appointment for up to four additional years, contingent upon project needs and funding availability.
