MRI Technologist - Weekend Nights

About the role

As an MRI Technologist at MUSC, you will be at the forefront of medical imaging, utilizing advanced MRI technology including 3T, mobile, and upright MRI scanners. At MUSC our MRI technologists have access to dedicated protocol support and system MRSO support every day. Working in a collaborative and patient-centric environment, they play a critical role in the delivery of exceptional healthcare outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality MRI examinations on patients across all age groups, including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
• Operate MRI equipment safely and efficiently to obtain diagnostic-quality images for physician interpretation.
• Utilize all available MRI resources, protocols, and technology to ensure accurate and timely imaging services.
• Prepare, position, and educate patients regarding MRI procedures to promote patient comfort and cooperation.
• Adhere to established safety standards, infection control practices, and MRI-specific protocols.
• Monitor patients throughout examinations and respond appropriately to patient needs and concerns.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with departmental and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide exceptional patient care.
• Ensure proper care, maintenance, and quality control of MRI equipment and work areas.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental operations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of radiologic technology.
• 0 to 2 years of modality-specific work experience; at least 1 year of X-ray experience preferred.
• Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R).
• Must be registered with the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT); if not registered, must be obtained within 1 year in this position.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Pay

• $10,000 sign-on bonus.
• Up to $5,000 relocation assistance for eligible candidates.
• Weekend day shift differential: up to $5.30 per hour.
• Additional pay opportunities including call pay and overtime.

Schedule

• Full-time position with weekend night schedule (Friday–Sunday, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM).
• Rotating holiday expectations.

• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs unassisted (infrequent); lift/lower 50 lbs from/to floor or 36 inches unassisted (infrequent); lift from 36 inches to overhead 25 lbs (infrequent).
• Ability to exert up to 50 lbs of force (frequent).
• Visual acuity of 20/40 or better, corrected, in one or both eyes; depth perception and color discrimination (continuous).
• Good peripheral vision and hearing acuity, with correction (continuous).
• Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions and work in a latex-safe environment (continuous).
• Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required (frequent).
