About the role

At University Cancer & Blood Center, we pride ourselves on listening, providing hope, guidance, and comfort, and striving to make a positive impact on the lives of patients and their families. We are looking for an MRI Technologist to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities

  • Position and immobilize patients and select appropriate technical factors for magnetic resonance scans to ensure optimal quality.
  • Perform post-processing of computer data to enhance image information.
  • Operate MRI support equipment, including independent workstations, disc drives, pressure injectors, patient monitoring systems, and PACS.
  • Transfer patients to and from the MRI scanning table, prepare them for examinations by explaining procedures, and address any patient questions.
  • Initiate IVs for administration of contrast media following departmental policy and universal precautions.
  • Secure pertinent patient history from the patient, their chart, or family members to provide radiologists with adequate information for examination interpretation.
  • Obtain confidential patient history, including lab values and allergy screening, to ensure appropriateness for the examination and safe administration of contrast agents.
  • Maintain compliance with established accrediting organization and department safety standards to ensure patient and staff well-being, including magnetic safety standards.
  • Document patient statistics, supplies, billing information, and preserve patient records, including:
    • Confidential patient history to ensure examination appropriateness.
    • Patient charge data, modifying and initiating charges as procedure modifications are made per the radiologist.
    • Any allergic reactions or incident reports regarding staff or patient situations.
  • Provide timely information for inventory of supplies.
  • Assist in scheduling examinations.
  • Draft imaging protocols and assist with the ACR accreditation process.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program.
  • 3 years as an MRI Technologist or graduate of a certificate program in MRI Technology.
  • ARRT certification.
  • Experience in drafting imaging protocols.
  • Experience with the ACR accreditation process.
