MRI Technologist (Per Diem)

About the role

The MRI Technologist performs routine MRI procedures using professional judgment to ensure equipment safety, proper patient positioning, and image quality, adhering to Imaging Services Standards.

Responsibilities

• Interpret MRI orders and conduct examinations per established protocols.
• Educate and screen patients, answer questions, and explain procedures.
• Research implants for safety and prepare contrast media when needed.
• Document procedures accurately in EMR and submit exams with relevant prior studies.
• Monitor equipment for safe operation and report discrepancies.
• Follow departmental policies on safety, quality assurance, infection control, and environmental standards.
• Assist with facility and equipment maintenance, provide basic patient care, and ensure safety, including emergency response readiness.
• Maintain current knowledge of medical technology and work at various locations as scheduled.
• Uphold confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Perform technical and non-technical duties as directed.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent; AA or AAS in Radiologic Technology Sciences.
• Graduate of accredited programs or recognized clinical training.
• State licenses (WA or Oregon) and ARRT registration in MRI required.
• Current BLS certification.
• Preferably two years of radiologic technologist experience prior to MRI training.
• Knowledge of MRI procedures, safety protocols, anatomy, and computer applications.
• Effective communication skills and problem-solving abilities.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely enter MRI magnet room with implants.
• Full range of motion, manual dexterity, and ability to lift patients up to 300 lbs.
• Prolonged screen viewing, handling multiple demands, and travel between locations.
• Corrected vision and hearing, with exposure to clinical hazards.
