About the role

Performs diagnostic MRI scanning procedures to produce consistently high-quality examinations in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations, and licensing requirements. Provides excellent patient care for all MRI scan procedures. Quickly and accurately completes all paperwork to include orders, lab work, and authorization confirmation. Consistently monitors and ensures the safety of patients as it relates to radiation and contrast dosing.

Responsibilities

  • Examines orders and verifies the patient request for accuracy. Addresses any questionable orders with the Radiologist before performing the procedure(s).
  • Operates MRI equipment to make quality images of designated portions of the body under the direct order of a physician and in accordance with MRI safety procedures.
  • Completes required paperwork/orders, email order requests, and authorization in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Accurately records patient medical history on designated history form. Correlates test results and other lab data with the exam being performed.
  • Performs intravenous injections of GBCA when required.
  • Monitors supplies, stock room, and equipment. Proactively initiates ordering or repairs, as needed.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment and all necessary QA documentation.
  • Effectively communicates with Radiologist for protocols, as needed.
  • Effectively communicates with PACS/IT for imaging distribution, as necessary.
  • Operates x-ray equipment to make quality images of designated portions of the body under the direct order of a physician and in accordance with radiation safety procedures.
  • Performs basic patient care functions and informs the Radiologist or nurse of any change in the patient’s condition if needed.
  • Technologist will be involved in patient care including safety screening, scanning, and intravenous injections of GBCAs.

Requirements

  • ARRT (MR) certification required.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology required.
  • MRI experience preferred.
  • Must be able to perform procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards.
  • Must be able to operate MRI scanners, IV contrast injectors, and O2 tanks.
  • Computer literate and knowledgeable of CR programs.
  • Must be up to date with local and federal regulations that apply to licensure and role.
  • Must be able to review patient history and identify any allergies that could interfere with the patient’s test.
  • Must be able to communicate with the Radiologist or referring MD if a protocol needs to be obtained or a test needs to be altered.
  • Must be able to report malfunctioning equipment to the Radiology engineer.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time and lift 50-75 lbs.
  • Must have positive communication skills and excellent customer service skills.
  • Must be competent to perform IVs.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to infectious diseases, contaminated equipment, cleaning chemicals, prolonged sitting, and some heavy lifting.

Monday to Thursday, 6:30 am - 5:30 pm
