MRI Technologist II

About the role

The MRI Tech II is an advanced MRI technologist responsible for performing complex imaging procedures, adapting to new technologies, and ensuring safe practices for patients with or without medical implants.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of MRI procedures with expertise and independent judgment.
• Enforce MRI safety protocols, especially concerning patients with implants like pacemakers and electronic devices.
• Assist patients with claustrophobia, providing comfort and support during imaging.
• Operate MRI equipment under general supervision of radiologists and supervisors.
• Stay updated with advances in imaging techniques and technology.
• Maintain compliance with safety regulations and continuing education requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Certified by ARRT (MRI certification), ARMRIT, or NMTCB.
• Two years of MRI experience preferred.
• Advanced MRI certification for ARRT license holders.
• BLS certified and compliant with continuing education guidelines.
• Knowledge of MRI physics, biological effects, and safety measures regarding medical implants.

Safety Considerations

All staff must be screened for safety concerning MRI magnetic fields, especially regarding electronic and battery-operated implants that may pose risks.
