MRI Technologist (CASUAL/PRN)

About the role

Nemours Children's Health is seeking a Casual/PRN MRI Technologist to join our team in Orlando, Florida. This position performs Magnetic Resonance imaging studies while providing quality healthcare service, including total patient care in a comfortable, friendly environment. Excellent communication skills are essential due to continuous interaction with the public and professional/medical personnel. The MRI Technologist reports to the Radiology Manager or Radiology Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine magnetic resonance imaging protocols and patient examinations as directed by the radiologist.
• Prepare the MRI room and provide accurate instructions to patients and families, explaining procedures and answering questions.
• Screen patients for contraindications that may pose health or safety risks, including evaluating patients for contrast media administration.
• Start IVs and inject contrast material for imaging studies, observing patients for allergic reactions post-administration.
• Maintain work habits consistent with hospital and department policies, reporting unsafe conditions and demonstrating safe practices.
• Operate hospital computer systems for patient data entry, retrieval, order entry, and study completion.
• Determine proper scanning parameters and sequences according to radiologist protocols, ensuring equipment functionality through proper usage and maintenance.
• Provide care tailored to the specific chronological age, developmental age, or social maturity of patients (infant, child, adult).
• Participate in departmental and hospital Quality Assessment and Improvement programs, identifying opportunities to enhance services and implementing recommendations.
• Assist in training new personnel, students, and physicians.
• Maintain regular attendance and demonstrate strong communication skills, including accepting feedback and collaborating with all departments.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree required.
• Minimum of six months to one year of experience required.
• MRI certification required upon hire: ARRT or ARMRIT.
• American Heart Association BLS Certification required upon hire and must be maintained.
• Certified MRI Safety Officer (MRSO) preferred.
