Responsibilities
- Perform MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols
- Screen and prepare patients for MRI procedures
- Position patients and select appropriate imaging parameters
- Select and properly use radio-frequency surface coils
- Apply specialized knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
- Maintain MRI safety requirements for patients, staff, visitors, and equipment
- Prepare and administer contrast media within applicable scope
- Operate power injectors
- Work with PACS and digital imaging systems
- Evaluate studies for technical quality and diagnostic adequacy
- Monitor patients throughout examinations and report significant changes
- Maintain accurate documentation in VA clinical systems
- Follow infection control, patient safety, and equipment-cleaning requirements
Requirements
- Current, full, and unrestricted Radiologic Technologist license
- ARRT certification in Radiography – R
- Advanced ARRT certification in Magnetic Resonance – MR
- Minimum 3 years of advanced modality experience
- Current BLS
- Strong MRI safety knowledge
- Strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
- Experience with MRI contrast media, power injectors, and PACS
- Ability to independently perform assigned MRI duties
- Ability to complete VA credentialing and onboarding requirements
