MRI Technologist

About the role

We are seeking a full-time MRI Technologist to join our team at Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando, Florida. This position performs Magnetic Resonance imaging studies while providing quality healthcare service, including total patient care in a comfortable, friendly environment.

Excellent communication skills are essential due to continuous interaction with the public and professional/medical personnel. The MRI Technologist reports to the Radiology Manager or Radiology Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine magnetic resonance imaging protocols and patient examinations as directed by the radiologist.
• Prepare the scanning room and provide accurate instructions to patients and families, explaining procedures and answering questions.
• Screen patients for contraindications that may pose health or safety risks; assist radiologists by evaluating patients and obtaining written screening for contrast media administration.
• Start IVs and inject contrast material for imaging studies; observe patients for allergic reactions post-administration.
• Maintain work habits consistent with hospital and department policies, reporting unsafe conditions and incidents to supervisors.
• Operate hospital computer systems for patient data entry, retrieval, order entry, and study completion.
• Determine proper scanning parameters and sequences according to radiologist protocols; ensure equipment function through proper usage and maintenance.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skill in providing care tailored to the specific chronological age, developmental age, or social maturity of patients (infant, child, adult).
• Participate in departmental and hospital Quality Assessment and Improvement programs, identifying opportunities for service enhancement and implementing recommendations.
• Assist in training new personnel, students, and physicians; maintain regular attendance and effective communication with all departments.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree required.
• Minimum of six months to one year of experience required.
• MRI certification required upon hire: ARRT or ARMRIT.
• American Heart Association BLS Certification required upon hire and must maintain.
• Certified MRI Safety Officer (MRSO) preferred.
• Ability to work well with others, accept feedback, and actively communicate with counterparts across departments.
