Job Overview
MRI Technologist operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI scanners. Performs MRI procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient’s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care. Monitor patient safety and comfort, and produce quality examinations for proper treatment and diagnosis by physician.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic
Certifications And Licenses Required
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology
- NJ License required
Schedule
Flex Schedule. Coverage for day, evening and weekend shifts.
Essential Functions
- Adapts to new protocols and software upgrades
- Alerts Radiologist or Resident to questionable pathology prior to releasing patient
- Coordinates and schedules patients along with other departments when applicable
- Demonstrates flexibility to scheduling changes patient scheduling and work schedules
- Demonstrates knowledge of technical scanning and filming and clinical protocols
- Interviews and educates patients prior to MRI exam to ensure patient safety and alleviate patient fears, especially claustrophobic patients explains procedure, keeps patient informed of progress and assists patients on and off scanner
- Maintains safety in the magnet suite knowledgeable of non-ferrous vs ferrous materials and possible deflection of metallic surgical appliances
- Observes equipment for proper functioning and if malfunctions occur, troubleshoots and reports incident to supervisor
- Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient s age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care
- Uses monitoring devices for all sedated and anesthetized patients
- Verifies physician orders, documents completion on inpatient charts
