MRI Technician (Per Diem)

Operates MRI equipment to produce diagnostic MRI scans as directed by the radiologist and orthopedic physician. Assumes responsibility for the MRI suite and patients entering the area.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patient in the MRI waiting room and reviews the patient history form.
  • Confirms authorization has been obtained and is in chart (if applicable).
  • Establishes that it is safe for the patient to enter the magnet room.
  • Prepares and positions the patient for the appropriate scan.
  • Determines the need for contrast injection based on criteria set forth by the radiologist.
  • Proceeds with the scan according to protocols established by the radiologist.
  • Transmits completed study via PACS to the radiologist.
  • Identifies when a "WET READING" is needed and provides images on CD to patients or physicians.
  • Provides a safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff.
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of the MRI suite.
  • Ensures equipment is in working order; reports malfunctions to the service engineer and Office Manager.
  • Participates in the training of new employees.
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
  • Productivity target: 12-16 exams over 8 hours in a two-tech team, with same-day scans offered when possible.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED (minimum education requirement).
  • Successful completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with continued studies in MRI.
  • MRI registration licensure required.
  • Knowledge of x-ray procedures.
  • Ability to operate all required equipment and machinery, including processors.
  • Computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
  • Capable of exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Schedule

  • Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Per diem (as needed) position.

Pay

$33.00/hr - $55.00/hr
