Operates MRI equipment to produce diagnostic MRI scans as directed by the radiologist and orthopedic physician. Assumes responsibility for the MRI suite and patients entering the area.
Responsibilities
- Greets patient in the MRI waiting room and reviews the patient history form.
- Confirms authorization has been obtained and is in chart (if applicable).
- Establishes that it is safe for the patient to enter the magnet room.
- Prepares and positions the patient for the appropriate scan.
- Determines the need for contrast injection based on criteria set forth by the radiologist.
- Proceeds with the scan according to protocols established by the radiologist.
- Transmits completed study via PACS to the radiologist.
- Identifies when a "WET READING" is needed and provides images on CD to patients or physicians.
- Provides a safe and comfortable environment for patients and staff.
- Maintains order and cleanliness of the MRI suite.
- Ensures equipment is in working order; reports malfunctions to the service engineer and Office Manager.
- Participates in the training of new employees.
- Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
- Productivity target: 12-16 exams over 8 hours in a two-tech team, with same-day scans offered when possible.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED (minimum education requirement).
- Successful completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with continued studies in MRI.
- MRI registration licensure required.
- Knowledge of x-ray procedures.
- Ability to operate all required equipment and machinery, including processors.
- Computer skills, including MS Office Suite.
- Capable of exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
Schedule
- Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday: 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM
- Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday: 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Per diem (as needed) position.
Pay
$33.00/hr - $55.00/hr
