About the Role
Performs MR scanning as directed by the Radiologist. Communicates with physicians and other work-related personnel appropriately.
Responsibilities
- Performs all MRI procedures proficiently, maintaining high quality through proper positioning, appropriate coil selection, and thorough knowledge of scanning protocols.
- Completes imaging studies in a timely manner, ensures accurate charging, and delivers studies to the radiologist for interpretation promptly after exam completion.
- Identifies patients using two patient identifiers and communicates regarding MR safety questionnaires and pertinent clinical history.
- Obtains completed safety questionnaires and clinical history to ensure magnet safety for all patients entering the department.
- Coordinates with medical staff regarding patient sedation needs and informs patients and families of any delays.
- Prepares scan rooms using approved cleaning protocols, discards sharps appropriately, and maintains adequate supplies and linen.
- Prepares and administers contrast materials within scope of practice as prescribed by a physician or approved Radiology protocol.
- Implements emergency procedures as needed.
- Performs departmental and hospital-related computer functions, including data entry and recording.
- Exhibits competency in quality control tasks for equipment and procedures to meet standards.
- Stays updated on organizational, affiliate, and departmental changes by checking email each shift.
- Provides clinical instruction to staff technologists and students, prepares staff schedules, and coordinates daily workflow as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program (Certification Program).
- No prior experience required for candidates hired after 11/08/2020; grandfathering provisions apply for existing team members.
- ARRT registered in Radiology, with ARRT MRI registration required within one year of hire; OR RMRIT-American Registry of MRI certification.
Skills
- Proficiency in computer skills, including database and data entry.
- Basic mathematical skills.
