Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced MRI Supervisor to lead and oversee daily operations within a busy outpatient diagnostic imaging center. This leadership role combines clinical expertise with administrative responsibilities, ensuring high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and efficient department operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong MRI technical skills, supervisory experience, and a commitment to patient safety and service excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support MRI Technologists and MRI support staff.
- Perform MRI examinations while maintaining advanced technical competency.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and safety standards.
- Oversee MRI quality assurance and quality control programs.
- Develop and maintain MRI protocols in collaboration with radiologists and leadership.
- Conduct staff performance evaluations and provide coaching, training, and corrective action as needed.
- Manage department scheduling and staffing coverage.
- Monitor departmental performance and implement process improvements.
- Cook up equipment maintenance, repairs, inspections, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with patients, providers, and referring physicians.
- Participate in departmental meetings, quality initiatives, and professional development activities.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI educational program.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as an MRI Technologist. Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience, including administrative and budget responsibilities.
- Certifications & Licensure: Current ARRT Certification in Radiography and MRI. Current New Mexico Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program License. Current CPR Certification (or obtained within 3 months of hire). MRSO (Magnetic Resonance Safety Officer) Certification preferred but not required.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of MRI principles, techniques, safety standards, and equipment.
- Experience managing MRI quality assurance and quality control programs.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with RIS, PACS, EPIC EMR, scheduling software, and related imaging systems.
- Ability to analyze operational data and manage departmental budgets.
- Ability to remain calm and effective during emergency situations.
