MRI/Radiographic Tech

About the Role

This position requires the MRI/Radiographic Technologist to operate Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment, prepare patients for examination, and ensure proper information is obtained for physician diagnosis. The role involves managing patient flow, data reconstruction, and sending images to PACS for interpretation, as well as performing technical procedures with independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Operates Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) equipment.
• Prepares patients for examination and ensures proper information is obtained for physician diagnosis.
• Assists in managing patient flow, data reconstruction, and sending images to PACS for physician interpretation.
• Performs technical procedures requiring independent judgment and ingenuity without constant supervision.
• Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.
• Maintains behavior that promotes patient confidence and trust.
• Demonstrates proficiency in all duties and ability to recognize and alleviate patient fears.
• Adheres to department policies, procedures, protocols, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
• Selects appropriate scan sequences and protocols to obtain high-quality diagnostic images, adjusting protocols based on patient pathology.
• Labels, processes, and displays final images for radiologist interpretation.
• Maintains records of image slices, injections, supplies, and equipment handling.
• Ensures orderliness and cleanliness of assigned areas.
• Uses power injectors, prepping and loading for use, and observes sterile and aseptic techniques when necessary.
• Cooperates with personnel to ensure proper department conduct and demonstrates professionalism.
• Adheres to hospital and departmental rules and regulations.
• Participates in in-service programs.
• Assists with other projects and attends hospital functions as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology (New York State-approved two-year program).
• New York State Department of Health Diagnostic Radiographic Technologist license.
• ARRT MRI certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Up to one year of Radiologic Technologist experience preferred.

Physical Demands

• Regularly communicates with patients, office staff, and medical providers, requiring good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift and bend with a minimum of 100 lbs.
• Long periods of standing.
• Sufficient mobility and dexterity to operate hospital equipment, including stretchers and patient transfers.
• Adequate vision and hearing to read, follow instructions, and interact with patients.

Pay

Starting salary: $59.552 per hour.

Schedule

Per Diem.

Prior to the start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements: successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination, obtain medical clearance, pass a 4-panel drug screen, complete an electronic reference check with at least three professional references, and provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
