About the role
The MRF Sorter supports daily recycling operations by inspecting and sorting materials on the conveyor line to ensure proper separation and removal of contaminants. This role contributes to maintaining safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations by following established procedures, keeping work areas clean, and promptly reporting safety or equipment concerns. The position does not supervise employees but plays an important role in supporting overall material processing and operational workflow within the facility.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and sort materials according to size, type and condition
- Keep work area and all surrounding areas clean
- Report all unsafe work conditions or equipment issues immediately to supervisor
- Attend and participate in safety meetings
- Wear required personal protective equipment at all times
- Perform other job duties as assigned
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Regularly lift and carry heavy materials, often up to 50 pounds or more
- Regularly required to stand for long periods of time
- Frequent bending, twisting, and reaching to collect garbage
- Exposure to various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow
- High noise levels from trucks and machinery
- Potential exposure to hazardous materials and unpleasant odors
- Often required to wear protective gear, such as gloves and safety glasses
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds
- While performing duties, regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
- Occasionally required to stand and walk
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
Pay: $16.50
