About the role
You will work within an interdisciplinary team to innovate and push the technical envelope in all aspects of magnetic resonance imaging. Opportunities span MRI systems hardware development and algorithm/pulse sequence development across 1.5T–3.0T whole-body and 3.0T–7.0T high-performance, head-only MRI platforms.
Responsibilities
- Apply deep knowledge in MR physics, mathematics, engineering and chemistry to conceptualize and prototype novel MR systems and applications that address key clinical needs.
- Develop impactful applications leveraging next-generation MRI sub-systems (e.g., high-performance gradient coils, RF coils, receiver sub-systems, gradient drivers).
- Develop and deploy investigational MR applications and systems in clinical and preclinical environments for testing and validation.
- Determine the impact of systems hardware performance on image quality and safety.
- Develop algorithmic and/or systems hardware solutions for MR-guided therapy and interventional applications.
- Grow external collaborations with academic and industry partners through joint publications, grant submissions and advanced technology development.
- Work with clinicians to refine emerging technologies for clinical applications.
- Create intellectual property by generating invention disclosures and filing patents.
- Maintain external visibility through conference presentations and peer-reviewed journal publications.
Requirements
- Ph.D. degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
- At least 3 years of research experience.
- Demonstrated record of research and development outcomes evidenced by peer-reviewed conference proceedings and journal publications.
- Strong fundamentals in MR imaging physics and sub-systems, signal processing and electromagnetic theory.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand and address root causes of MR image quality issues in investigational prototypes.
- Proficiency in programming in C, Python and/or simulation tools.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
- Willingness to work from an office located in Niskayuna, NY.

- Experience in pulse sequence programming on a GE HealthCare MRI scanner and/or developing new image reconstruction algorithms.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $100,000.00–$150,000.00 annually. Compensation decisions are based on skills, qualifications, experience and location; offers may include performance-based incentive compensation such as cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
