About the Role
This is an On-Campus ACA Variable Hourly position offering a minimum of 20 hours per week, with the potential for increased hours during holiday periods. The schedule will occasionally include nights and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Moving office furniture and equipment
- Assembling various items
- Performing event set-ups
- Miscellaneous cleaning duties, as needed
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials
- Prefer experience driving trucks with trailers
Physical Demands & Work Environment
This position requires moderate physical activity. Employee must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 70 pounds. This position requires nearly continuous standing and walking as well as reaching overhead, bending, kneeling, squatting, sitting, and repetitive hand motions (tool use and typing).
- Lifting and Transferring Weight: Capable of handling loads up to 70 pounds for tasks involving equipment, trash, or supplies.
- Comfort with Heights and Extended Reach: Essential for tasks involving climbing stairs, ladders, and reaching high areas for maintenance.
- Adaptability to Uncomfortable Positions: Necessary for tasks like cleaning low areas, which may require crawling, kneeling, or squatting.
- Work in Confined Spaces: Ability and willingness to work effectively in tight or restricted areas.
- Carrying a 25-pound vacuum for Extended Periods: Relevant to the equipment used in the role.
- Handling Chemicals, Fragrances, and Restroom Cleaning: Proficiency in handling cleaning materials and performing specific cleaning tasks.
- Availability for Snow Removal: Flexibility and readiness for varied responsibilities.
- Commitment and Flexibility: Reliability in fulfilling designated work hours is crucial for operational efficiency.
Employee may work in both indoor and outdoor environments. Indoors, the employee is protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Outdoors, incumbents may be exposed to rain, snow, wind, extreme cold, or extreme heat. Employees may be exposed to hazardous conditions including elevated workspaces, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals, loud noises, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system such as dust, fumes, and unpleasant odors. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
