About the Role

New World Van Lines is hiring experienced household-goods movers nationwide. As a Mover Apprentice, you will be responsible for loading and unloading trucks at our temperature-controlled facility, ensuring the safety of items and their secure storage. General cleanup of the facility, grounds, and vehicles is also required. All employees must maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks at the loading dock.
  • Ensure safe storage and handling of household goods.
  • Perform general cleanup of the facility, grounds, and vehicles.
  • Follow detailed instructions and maintain consistent attendance.
  • Transfer boxes and furniture as specified, using mechanical assistance when required.
  • Use dollies and step ladders to load/unload larger items.
  • Pad and un-pad furniture after training.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 months moving experience.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, physical, and drug test.
  • Consistent attendance and professionalism.
  • Flexible work schedule; no night work required, with Saturday availability.

Physical Requirements

  • Vertically transfer boxes weighing up to 50 lbs. from 1" to 36", up to 8 times per hour with assistance.
  • Transfer furniture (e.g., armoires, dressers) weighing up to 75 lbs. from 5" to 30", up to 2 times per hour, a distance of up to 25 feet with mechanical assistance.
  • Transfer personal items and furniture weighing up to 30 lbs. from 1" to 36", up to 15 times per hour, a distance of up to 25 feet without mechanical assistance.
  • Horizontally transfer a dolly requiring a force up to 53 lbs., up to 2 times per hour, a distance of 25 feet with assistance.
  • Use a step ladder (12" rungs, 5 steps) to load/unload while in the trailer.
  • Access areas through conventional doorways and loading docks.
  • Tolerate standing for up to 1 hour continuously, totaling up to 8 hours in a 12-hour period.
  • Work in controlled indoor temperatures and ambient temperatures in trailers at loading docks.
  • Possess near, far, and depth vision for tasks such as moving boxes and furniture.
  • Walk up to 1 mile in a day over an 8-hour period.

Pay

Industry-leading pay, paid weekly. Compensation plans include hourly or hundredweight options. Contractors settle weekly with no BIPD or admin fees.
