Mountain Services - Kircliff Team
About the role
Kircliff Team Members are responsible for greeting guests, supplying scuff guards, keeping the Kircliff clean, and acting as a source for mountain information. This position is based at the top of Lone Peak in the Kircliff Building, with most of the shift spent indoors and on the mountain. Flexibility, excellent guest service skills, mountain knowledge, and the ability to work enthusiastically in a team setting are essential. Team members must be comfortable standing for extended periods and enjoy the outdoors and mountain environment. Daily skiing or riding is encouraged to share firsthand knowledge of Tram-accessed terrain and enthusiasm for Big Sky with guests. The ability and desire to ski/ride at a high level is required.
Responsibilities
- Continuous guest interaction, including greeting, assisting, and providing mountain information.
- Collaborate with Lift Operations, Ski Patrol, Lift Maintenance, and other resort departments.
- Rotate through various roles, including greeter, scuff guard distribution, mountain information sharing, and directing traffic in the Kircliff building.
- Keep the Kircliff area clean and perform snow removal outside the building.
- Distribute and collect scuff guards for guests.
- Facilitate smooth traffic flow through the upper and lower terminals of the Kircliff building.
- Answer guest questions promptly and politely, resolving issues as needed.
- Provide knowledgeable assistance about surrounding mountain ranges, ski lifts, terrain, Mountain Village restaurants, amenities, shops, and activities.
- Stay informed about daily snow reports, grooming reports, and open/closed runs off the Tram.
- Work both indoors and outdoors in inclement weather for extended periods.
Daily Physical Work Requirements
- Setting up stanchions: 17 lbs. (80% chance of responsibility)
- Passing out scuff guards to guests: 1 lb. (100% chance of responsibility)
- Snow removal: weight varies based on snowfall (100% chance of responsibility)
- Rolling and unrolling rubber mats: 60 lbs. (100% chance of responsibility)
Team members will work five 8-hour shifts, typically from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, in cold and potentially windy conditions at the summit of Lone Peak.
Requirements
- High-level knowledge of surrounding mountain ranges, Big Sky Resort terrain, and general resort information.
- Ability to operate independently and as part of a team to facilitate exceptional guest experiences.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Problem-solving skills, proactivity, and reliability.
- Ability to stand for hours at a time.
- Highly skilled skier or snowboarder, capable of riding advanced terrain (preferred).
- Must be able to ski or ride a green circle trail.
- Previous guest service experience is a plus.
