About the role

Motor Vehicle Operator position within the New England Logistics Division, located at LOG Southern Maine, 79 Postal Service Way, Scarborough, ME 04074-7001. This is a non-exempt, career position under the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS).

Responsibilities

  • Operate a motor vehicle as required for mail transportation and delivery.

Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate in and understand the English language, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must possess a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) Class B.
  • If holding an intrastate CDL, must self-certify to your state that you operate or expect to operate in excepted interstate commerce (49 CFR part 383.71(b)(1)(ii)).
  • At least two years of unsupervised experience driving passenger cars or larger vehicles, including one year of full-time unsupervised experience (or equivalent) driving a 7-ton or larger truck, tractor-trailer, or a 16-passenger or larger bus. Driving experience must have occurred in the U.S., its possessions or territories, or on U.S. military installations worldwide.
  • Must disclose all previous employment as a commercial vehicle driver for the past 10 years and complete a Driving Notification and Compliance Certificate.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and consent to retrieval of prior positive alcohol/drug test results or refusal-to-test records from the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
  • Must have a safe driving record.
  • Postal Service employment is conditional upon meeting medical suitability, general eligibility, suitability, and background check requirements.

Qualifications

Open to all U.S. citizens, lawful permanent resident aliens, and citizens of American Samoa or other U.S. territories owing permanent allegiance to the United States. Veterans preference and Veterans Employment Opportunity Act applicants are eligible.

Pay

Starting salary of $30.02 per hour, paid bi-weekly.
