Motor Vehicle Operator

About the role

A Motor Vehicle Operator for Manhattanville’s University’s Campus Safety Department is charged with safely transporting students, faculty, and staff on the University’s campus and designated locations in the tri-state area. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, customer service, and adherence to scheduled routes and times. Housing is not provided.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of passengers
• Maintain a clean vehicle
• Verify that the bus is always in proper working condition
• Determine safe and efficient routes
• Maintain all records as required
• Perform the following duties pre-trip: Inspection of the bus and equipment; Fueling; Cleaning of the vehicle’s interior; Fluids check; Tire pressure check

Requirements

• A minimum of two years of experience driving large buses
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times

Qualifications

• Possess a valid New York State Commercial Driver License with Class B, Passenger endorsement, and Air brake endorsement (preferred) OR a valid Connecticut Commercial Driver License with Class B, Passenger endorsement, and F endorsement (Motor bus/Motor coach)
• Maintain a clean driving record
• Pass USDOT Medical Exam
• Have a reliable cell phone to communicate with trip contact person
