About the role
This position involves operating a variety of vehicles and equipment, including tractor trailers, buses, aircraft tow tractors, farm tractors, forklifts, pickup trucks, sedans, cargo and passenger vans, tow trucks/recovery vehicles, water trucks, and military and commercial vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Drive and operate vehicles and equipment, including military and commercial vehicles, to transport troops and equipment.
- Drive military and commercial vehicles to support both YTC and Army Garrison operations.
- Perform minor operator level repairs and keep equipment in good order.
- Conduct daily and weekly PMCS, inspecting vehicles for deficiencies, checking fluid levels, and maintaining logs.
- Load or unload trucks with or without helpers and secure loads to be transported.
- Coordinate daily operations, prepare and submit reports and trip tickets.
- Serve as a liaison with the GSA Service Center coordinating vehicles transfers to offsite vendors for warranty and repairs.
- Work directly with Heavy Equipment Operators.
- Perform other duties as required to complete the assigned mission.
Requirements
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) without special restrictions and maintain for the duration of employment.
- Must have HAZMAT, Tanker and Passenger endorsements.
- Must have a minimum of one (1) year continuous driving experience with heavy trucks, heavy equipment, and/or tactical military vehicles.
Job Skills Requirements
- Basic knowledge and understanding of equipment-operating characteristics, capabilities, and limitations.
- Ability to conduct basic operator-level maintenance, such as checking tire pressure, inspect braking systems, and servicing vehicle lights.
- Able to identify, correct, or report all vehicle deficiencies to the motor pool dispatcher or supervisor.
Physical Requirements
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening, DOT physical, and periodic retests.
- Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.
- Capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Meet the physical requirements necessary to perform operations outlined, performed, and stated in the SOPs for the Maintenance Division.
- Capable of climbing up and into large vehicles up to 10 feet high.
- Capable of lifting 75 lbs. unassisted.
- Capable of kneeling, bending, and standing while performing rigging duties.

Additional Desirable Qualifications
- Have current National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) CCO Rigger and Signalperson certification.
Terms of Employment & Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and not hold multiple citizenships.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, without special restrictions.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain security clearance for the duration of employment.
- Must be a current TRAX employee or affiliate subcontractor for internal postings.
