About the role

Under general supervision, this position in the Department of Public Works and Transportation provides technical advice and assistance to managers regarding vehicle operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Guide staff in complex repair and analysis of automotive equipment.
• Advise on the purchase, operation, and maintenance of various County vehicles.
• Supervise and monitor the automotive, diesel, and heavy equipment maintenance programs of the County.
• Schedule vehicles for inspection.
• Work with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles regarding inspection regulations to ensure the County’s fleet operations are in full compliance.
• Exercise supervision over subordinate staff.
• Perform related work as required.
