Motor Equipment Operator

Responsibilities

• Operates light and medium vehicles including passenger cars, station wagons, trucks, and various types of motorized grass and weed cutters.
• Loads and unloads trucks and transports people, material, and equipment.
• Maintains trash dumpsters by emptying them on a daily basis.
• Mixes, loads, and delivers ice and snow-melting materials.
• Ensures vehicles and their components are in an acceptable operating condition.
• Follows health and safety codes and maintains a clean, safe, and secure work environment.
• Handles Constituent Relationship Management (CMR) cases and communicates with supervisors and inspectors using mobile technology.
• Supports other Public Works Divisions as needed.
• Responds to and works any emergency as directed by the Chief of Streets or designee.

Requirements

• Current Massachusetts driver’s license.
• One year of experience in a related field within the last ten years.
• Boston resident status.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on details.
