Key Responsibilities
- Disassemble automotive electric motors (traction motors, starter motors, alternators, hybrid drive motors) following established procedures and safety standards.
- Identify, label, and organize components such as stators, rotors, bearings, windings, housings, and electronic assemblies.
- Follow electrical safety protocols
- Assist engineers or maintenance personnel by providing accurate teardown data
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure proper storage of reusable and scrap components.
- Operate shop equipment such as presses, pullers, torque tools, and cleaning systems.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying process inefficiencies or safety risks.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with electric motors, automotive components, or mechanical/electrical assemblies.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Basic understanding of electrical principles (windings, insulation, continuity, grounding).
- Ability to follow technical instructions, schematics, and safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Physical ability to lift components and work in a hands-on shop environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automotive technology, industrial maintenance, or electrical systems.
Work Environment
- Maintenance repair facility
- Exposure to mechanical and electrical components
- Use of PPE including gloves, safety glasses, and high-voltage protective gear
Pay
$25-$50 per hour
Schedule
This is an exciting opportunity to develop and grow while gaining hands-on experience. The position is a contract role based in Union, NJ, operating 5 days a week.
