Motion Automation Intelligence- Quality Engineer

Job Duties

• Designs and implements equipment and tooling for production processes that will improve operational safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Oversees generation and maintenance of CAD drawings for tooling and equipment design.
• Supports design and development of new belting products.
• Creates and implements process standards and specifications, introducing appropriate manufacturing controls where possible to provide for consistent operations to these standards.
• Utilizes Lean Manufacturing tools to help advance operational Continuous Improvement throughout the organization.
• Defines best practice approaches and help establish these practices throughout Motion's fabrication facilities.
• Discusses and solves complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an Electromechanical discipline.
• 0–2 years of experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering (internships/co-ops considered).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical documents.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge

• Quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and Root Cause Analysis.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality standards.
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Experience using statistical software (e.g., Minitab or equivalent).
• Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Experience with ERP or quality management systems (QMS software).
• ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA, or Six Sigma Green Belt) are a plus.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

• Maintains and improves the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
• Develops, documents, and implements quality procedures, work instructions, inspection plans, and control plans.
• Participates in internal and external audits; supports corrective action responses and audit readiness activities.
• Ensures compliance with customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company standards.

Inspection & Validation

• Reviews engineering drawings and specifications to ensure quality requirements are clearly defined.
• Supports first article inspections (FAI) and production part approval processes (PPAP) when applicable.
• Works with site Quality Control to ensure procedures and methodologies will result in product that meets all quality requirements.

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Analyzes quality metrics including scrap, rework, yield, and defect trends.
• Utilizes statistical tools and software to support decision-making and process improvements.
• Prepares clear reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate findings and progress to leadership and cross-functional teams.

Continuous Improvement

• Leads or supports Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives to reduce variation and eliminate waste.
• Facilitates Kaizen events and process improvement workshops.
• Identifies cost-of-poor-quality (COPQ) reduction opportunities.

Supplier Quality

• Evaluates and monitors supplier performance and quality systems.
• Supports supplier audits and corrective action management.
• Pairs with Supply Chain to resolve supplier-related quality issues.

Engineering & Technical Support

• Reviews and interprets drawings, schematics, and specifications.
• Affords assistance with process validation, equipment qualification, and production layout reviews.
• Provides quality-related training to operators and team members.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Please keep in mind that this is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. It also does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position.

If you are hired at Motion, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.

Compensation is from $85,271 to $117,195 annually
