About the Role

Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to provide age/developmentally appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice. Delivers patient/family centered care focusing on physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs.

Responsibilities include assessment, development of nursing diagnoses, outcome identification, planning, implementation of interventions, coordination of care, health teaching and promotion, and evaluation of goals and interventions consistent with MUSC policies. Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment through ensuring patient privacy and professional behavior.

Demonstrates ability to function in a professional setting through active participation in a professional practice model, including shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review, professional development, leadership, clinical excellence, teamwork, autonomous practice, and accountability for actions and critical thinking.

Coordinates the effective and efficient delivery of patient care services through care management principles, identifies clinical priorities, and initiates action to improve patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013, with an Associate or Diploma degree must enroll in an accredited BSN program within two years and complete the degree within four years of hire.
• A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse.
• Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
• Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking vitals, administering injections, or conducting exams.
• Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment.
• Visual acuity and color perception to read medical charts, documents, and monitors.
• Auditory ability to communicate effectively and perceive alarms or patient instructions.
• Stamina and resilience to handle long shifts and stressful situations.
• Mobility to navigate clinical environments, including patient rooms and offices.

Schedule

36 scheduled weekly hours, night shift.

Pay

Hourly pay rate, Health-28 pay grade.
