MOT Equipment Mechanic

About the role

The Equipment Mechanic position at ACME Barricades is responsible for maintaining and repairing various types of traffic equipment including Message Boards, Arrow Boards, Speed Radar Boards, Portable Regulatory Boards, and utility trailers. This role requires 12 Volt diagnostic ability, familiarity with electrical circuits, and welding/fabrication skills.

Responsibilities

• Determine equipment condition through inspections and diagnostic tests
• Complete preventive maintenance schedules and install component and part upgrades
• Overhaul, assemble, disassemble, and replace major assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components
• Adjust and repair equipment deficiencies
• Clean, wash, and paint equipment
• Keep equipment records by annotating services and repairs
• Operate and maintain shop equipment
• Inventory supplies and place orders
• Perform trailer mechanical repair, electrical, and welding tasks

Requirements

• Valid driver's license required, with passing MVR and controlled substance test
• May require background and criminal record check
• Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
• Experience with trailer mechanical repair, electrical, and welding
• At least 2-4 years of preventative maintenance of trailers
• Battery charging and testing experience
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including day or night shifts, weekends, and holidays
• Physical ability to drive for several hours per day, stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in varying environmental conditions
• Visual and auditory acuity to perform job duties
• Clear communication skills, both verbal and written
