Mortgage Servicing Representative

About the role

VyStar Credit Union is seeking a Mortgage Servicing Representative to join our team. This position is permanent and full-time.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with members by phone or in person to assist with mortgage account inquiries.
• Ensure timely processing of mortgage payments, payoff quotes, and account corrections.
• Cancellation of PMI insurance when requested by the member or when the LTV reaches 78%.
• Daily balancing of the branch to clear any suspense or un-posted items.
• Create/maintain necessary desk top procedures relating to servicing all types of mortgages loans.
• Verify mortgage loans are set up correctly in the servicing system, including ARM elements, initial escrow deposit, first due date, loan and payment amounts, hazard insurance, flood, wind, or PMI.
• Maintain accurate escrow records and advance funds when necessary to preserve VyStar's interest in the mortgaged property.
• Prepare and send Satisfaction of Mortgage documents and paid in full letters for all paid mortgage accounts.
• Process and maintain all closed and paid out mortgage loan files, prepare subordination of mortgage requests, and prepare force placed insurance as necessary.
• Handle mortgage payoff requests from members, title companies, financial institutions, and attorneys.
• Monitor and update ARM rates and track flood zones for loans in Special Flood Hazard Areas.
• Work collaboratively with the Mortgage Servicing Supervisor, Mortgage Servicing Manager, and Vice President Mortgage Lending to develop streamlined processes and improve department operating efficiencies.
• Identify and recommend process improvements, quality service, and increased efficiencies within the servicing unit.

Requirements

• Minimum of two years experience in a direct member contact area with a financial institution, specializing in mortgage lending, preferably mortgage loan servicing.
• Familiarity with mortgage documents for document scanning and retrieval tasks.
• Positive, well-developed communication skills, both written and oral, with a focus on detail orientation, organizational skills, and active listening.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and collaborate with others.
• Knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications and credit union software or core operating systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Continuing education via local conferences and workshops required for updates on federal regulations and secondary market requirements.

Pay

The salary range for the Mortgage Servicing Representative position is $49,579 - $118,321 annually.

Schedule

The schedule for this position is typically full-time, with a minimum of 30 hours per week.
