Mortgage Research VP
About the role
Join Barclays as a Mortgage Research VP, where you will develop and articulate investment strategies and produce and publish thematic research on mortgage-backed securities for internal and external audiences. Assess large and multi-layered datasets to identify market opportunities, risks, and emerging trends across mortgages and fixed income markets. Work with traders, salespeople, other research teams, and clients to provide actionable insights and recommendations. Evaluate market developments, macroeconomic trends, consumer behaviour, and credit dynamics impacting mortgage markets.
Purpose of the role
To produce and deliver Research with differentiated market insights and actionable ideas to Barclays Clients.
Responsibilities
- Analysis of market, sector, corporate and/or economic data to help develop investment theses for your coverage universe to produce best-in-class Research.
- Research may range from individual company or sector notes, through to long-dated thematic reports.
- Presentation of Research views to Barclays Clients; this can be through direct, face-to-face and virtual interactions, Research-hosted events, and written communications.
- Engagement with Markets, Client Strategy, and other stakeholders to raise awareness of your Research both to Clients and internally. Prioritise interaction with the most relevant and valuable Clients for your Research.
- Provision of insights and Research views to internal Clients to help them navigate financial markets and risks.
- Collaboration with the Supervisory Analyst, Compliance, and other stakeholders to ensure Research is produced and delivered to Clients and internal stakeholders in a compliant manner.
Vice President Expectations

- Manage and mitigate risks through assessment in support of the control and governance agenda. Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls.
- Collaborate with other areas of the business to stay aligned with business activity and strategies.
- Create solutions based on sophisticated analytical thought, comparing and selecting complex alternatives. Use in-depth analysis and interpretative thinking to define problems and develop innovative solutions.

Requirements
- Ample communication, presentation, and writing skills with the ability to effectively communicate highly detailed market views.
- Demonstrated experience in mortgages, RMBS/MBS, fixed income investing, or related markets.
- Attention to detail and ability to operate in a fast-paced, market-driven environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Bloomberg.
- Experience working with large and multi-layered datasets to support investment research and strategy-making.
Skills

- Proficiency in SQL and/or Python for data evaluation, automation, and research applications.
- Experience leveraging data science, analytics, or AI tools to improve research workflows and investment processes.

Pay
Minimum Salary: $155,000
Maximum Salary: $225,000
The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.
Location
This role is located in New York, NY and is regulated by FINRA.
