About the role
The Mortgage Loan Originator at Residential Mortgage is responsible for soliciting and developing residential mortgage loans. This position involves significant outside sales activities and maintaining relationships with realtors and other mortgage referral sources.
Responsibilities
- Receive and screen loan applications.
- Run credit checks and verify income/asset information, notifying unqualified applicants promptly.
- Conduct loan interviews and gather necessary customer information.
- Provide loan information and service to customers, realtors, and others as needed.
- Determine borrower eligibility based on specific investor guidelines.
- Order real estate appraisals for purchase or refinancing transactions.
- Maintain knowledge of local real estate market trends, lending rates, and regulatory changes.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local realtors, developers, and builders to promote bank services.
- Comply with state and federal laws and regulations, as well as company and industry standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of lending experience.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Registration and annual certification with the National Mortgage Loan Licensing Registry required.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as PC, printer, fax/copier, and telephone.

- Thorough understanding of FHA, VA, Fannie Mae, AHFC, and other loan types.
