Mortgage Loan Originator

About the Role

Originate real estate loans in accordance with Federal guidelines and established lending objectives, policies, and procedures. Build and maintain positive relationships with existing and potential customers, referral sources, and business partners to generate mortgage leads and support bank referrals.

Responsibilities

• Contact bank-provided leads promptly and as directed by a supervisor.
• Promote and develop relationships with referral sources such as realtors, builders, attorneys, and other affinity groups.
• Interview loan applicants and request appropriate credit documentation and specified information for the loan application.
• Analyze applicants' financial status, credit, and proposed property transactions to determine loan feasibility.
• Compile upfront compliance information and ensure timeline requirements are met.
• Answer applicant questions and correspond with applicants to resolve issues regarding application information.
• Match applicants' needs and qualifications with potential loan programs and ensure loans meet program guidelines.
• Submit loan packages to the Processor in a timely manner and work closely with them to ensure efficient handling per company policies.
• Inform applicants of loan approval, denial, or outstanding conditions.
• Handle correspondence with applicants regarding loan locking and execute the locking process according to company procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service and resolve customer-related problems quickly.
• Maintain and enhance market awareness, including economic trends, housing data, and competitive insights, to recommend product enhancements.
• Stay updated on products, services, laws, regulations, and internal policies relevant to the position.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with Realtors, business partners, and other potential business sources.
• Communicate professionally with mortgage operations staff and others in the bank.
• Perform other assigned duties.
