Major Duties and Essential Functions
- Provide excellent member service and develop relationships with internal and external members.
- Follow the credit union's Real Estate Lending credit program consistent with strategic initiatives, governing Texas Home equity credit laws, rules, and regulations.
- Support loan originators in managing their pipelines by monitoring key dates, status changes, and follow-ups.
- Communicate a thorough understanding of different loan programs and closing costs to help applicants decisioning.
- Ensure loan data integrity by entering, reviewing, and updating information across loan systems.
- Maintain proactive communication with members, responding to routine inquiries and following up on documents.
- Review documents and loan files within 24 hours of receipt, to identify missing or incorrect information and collaborate with loan originators to resolve issues promptly.
- Perform daily outbound calls to incoming leads sourced by online submissions, and by mortgage loan originators.
- Take telephone applications and schedule appointments with mortgage loan originators and realtor appointments.
- Regularly review loan process by monitoring loan status, term conformity, and regulatory guidelines.
- Pull credit reports, and Automated Underwriting System reports (e.g., DU, LP), and properly prepare for review/assessment.
- Create, develop, and update policies and procedures.
- Achieve measurable goals and other duties as necessary to achieve the goals of the credit union and department.
- Meet with your manager (scheduled one on one) bi-weekly and is an active participant in team/department meetings.
- Promotes and cross-sells credit union services/products that are beneficial to our members.
- Presents compiled data and provide data-driven and member-focused recommendations.
Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position
- Minimal developed sales ability.
- Must meet and comply with all requirements set forth in SAFE Act, including but not limited to successful completion of the required background checks and obtaining a Unique Identified from the NMLS.
- Basic knowledge in first liens and second liens with a working knowledge of Texas Home equity products, construction loans, and lot loans.
- Excellent member service skills; exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and oral communication skills.
- Some knowledge in the areas of Truth-in-Lending, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Dodd-Frank, TRID, and Texas State Home Equity Laws as well as supporting knowledge in market trends in Real Estate lending.
Education and Experience
- A two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or related field.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basis knowledge of real estate, mortgage origination, and lending experience required.
- Basic knowledge of local, state, and federal laws (e.g., Truth in Lending, & RESPA).
- Working knowledge of FNMA, FHA, VA, and private investors.
- Ability to analyze financial information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Developed sales ability.
