About the role
Supports the mortgage lending process by completing loan applications, submitting files to processing, and delivering exceptional customer service. Works closely with Senior Mortgage Loan Officers and Sales Managers to create a business plan and build referral sources.
Responsibilities
- Completes telephone, mail-away, and face-to-face loan applications with clients and approves loan disclosures for distribution to clients.
- Ensures all required fields in the application are completed, including all third-party information prior to approval.
- Determines proper program placement of a loan file (e.g., FHA, VA, Conventional, USDA).
- Prices loans and locks rates as per company policy.
- Reviews returned applications and documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Runs Automated Underwriting System (AUS) and reviews findings and required documentation.
- Prepares requested pre-qualifications as per company policy.
- Orders credit reports, appraisals, and title requests.
- Conducts regular follow-ups with clients and referral sources.
- Maintains regular communication with applicants throughout the processing period, assisting them with questions and notifying them of any additional information required.
- Submits loan files allowing for stated turn times and works in conjunction with the assigned processor.
- Maintains a pipeline of all loans in process, tracks their progress, and meets all contractual deadlines.
- Assists all parties, including the processor, during the entire process.
- Meets or exceeds minimum production requirements.
- Attends all settlements to gain exposure to the full loan life cycle.
- Completes an annual business plan and meets regularly with the sales manager.
- Stays informed of local market trends and mortgage regulations.
- Maintains a professional image and standards consistent with company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- 0-2 years of mortgage or financial services experience preferred, or industry equivalent if deemed acceptable by the sales manager.
- NMLS registration required.
