Mortgage Data Analyst

About the role

The ideal candidate will be joining the analytics team at Spring EQ, where data drives decision-making across various departments including originations, wholesale/broker operations, underwriting policy, and servicing. The team supports sales, operations, and leadership by answering questions such as "where are loans stalling in the pipeline?" and "how should we forecast next quarter's funding?"

Responsibilities

• Analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
• Communicate findings with coworkers simply and clearly.
• Support forecasting and predictive modeling initiatives.
• Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations using Tableau and SQL.
• Engineer and build data workflows to support analyses and reports.
• Partner with business teams to understand objectives and deliver data-driven solutions.
• Perform deep-dive analyses on pull-through, turn time, and other key performance metrics around Sales and Marketing Campaigns.

Requirements

• Degree in mathematics, statistics, computer/data science or a related field or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in a Data Analyst or Data Scientist role, ideally within mortgage origination or servicing.
• Working knowledge of SQL and Tableau.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with great attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to connect data to business outcomes.
• Excellent communication skills - you can influence through data, not just report it.

Qualifications

• Solid grasp of all stages in the mortgage originations pipeline.
• Proven ability to help drive strategy and influence decisions through well-communicated analysis.
• Exposure to predictive modeling and Python is a plus.

Skills

• Proficient in Tableau, Excel, SQL and other BI tools.
• Experience with Python, SAS, or R for advanced data analysis is desirable.
