About the role
The Mortgage Consultant proactively markets and promotes Capital City Home Loans’ financial products to meet established loan quality and production goals. This role represents the company in a professional and enthusiastic manner, providing exceptional client service while supporting and adhering to core values. The Mortgage Consultant identifies, develops, and maintains a quality network of business relationships—including real estate professionals, builders, and personal contacts—to generate recurring referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities.
In compliance with the S.A.F.E. Act, registration in the NMLS Registry is required. All associates must practice discretion when handling confidential client information.
Responsibilities
- Market and promote Capital City Home Loans financial products to the business community, including builders, developers, real estate brokers, financial institutions, and personal contacts.
- Ensure an exceptional client service experience by overseeing the loan process from origination to close and maintaining ongoing communication with clients and business partners.
- Collect and analyze financial documentation from borrowers and advise them on lending options based on their financial circumstances, credit history, assets, debts, and loan amount.
- Recommend appropriate loan programs and ensure the loan application is complete, legible, signed, and detailed before submission.
- Collect supporting loan documentation and provide a complete package to the Processor.
- Obtain the Capital City Home Loans’ Float/Lock Letter at the time of the loan application and lock the loan with secondary marketing via the lock desk.
- Work with Processors to ensure all loan conditions are met.
- Develop a business referral network through networking activities, prospecting, cold-calling, and marketing.
- Participate in community efforts to promote homeownership.
- Attend and complete all required training.
- Adhere to non-negotiable Banker Standards (SGNNT: smile, greet, name, name, thank you) and follow all company policies and procedures.
- Provide additional support to managers and department colleagues.
- Complete all assigned Bank training within established timelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college (relevant experience may substitute for the education requirement).
- Minimum of 1 year of residential mortgage lending experience with a focus on generating self-sourced business.
- Verifiable, established network of referral business, including real estate professionals and other centers of influence.
- Thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Commitment to professional ethics and compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, USDA, and VA regulations.
- Registration in the NMLS Registry (required by the S.A.F.E. Act).

Working Conditions
In rare instances of major natural disasters, epidemics, pandemics, or other disruptions, associates may be required to relocate or telecommute to ensure business continuity.
