Mortg Originator

Responsibilities and Duties

• Create new customer relationships; develop realtor and contractor referral network.
• Engage away from the employer’s place of business to respond to walk-ins and phone requests.
• Review loan applications to ensure proper documentation.
• Monitor and update loan applications daily, copy loan documents, and prepare status reports.
• Make efforts to cross-sell bank products and in-house loans.
• Accurately and timely prepare and deliver early disclosures for approved loan applications.
• Pricing loans at appropriate rates.
• Review and address loan declinations with the underwriter; follow up with customers to offer other products.
• Attend to regular and reliable attendance.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the manager.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of FNMA, FHA, VA, and NIFA guidelines.
• Underwriting process knowledge.
• Secondary market, agency loan products, and guidelines understanding.
• Bank policies and procedures knowledge.
• Courteous and professional communication skills.
• High-speed typing ability.
• Ability to multitask and function as a team player.
• Selling mortgage and bank products.
• Accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of previous mortgage loan originating experience required.

Physical Dimensions

• Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negotiable amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Job involves sitting most of the time and if walking and standing is required, only occasionally.
