About the role

KUSA KTVD-TV, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Denver, is seeking an innovative Producer to shape their daily newscasts. The role involves building creative shows that engage, educate, and inform audiences, prioritizing original storytelling and investigative journalism.

Responsibilities

  • Use natural curiosity to pitch compelling stories.
  • Show creativity and storytelling skills.
  • Craft stories of various lengths for different platforms targeting specific audiences.
  • Meet daily deadlines.
  • Create an engaging experience for the audience using live pictures, graphics, compelling video, and emotional sound.
  • Booth continuous coverage on live streams for breaking news and community events.
  • Consistently try new things after discussing with supervisors.
  • Ensure impactful and emotional conversations drive the content in your rundown.
  • Use data analytics to shape the content of your show.
  • Challenge traditional methods of production.
  • Ensure all communities and viewpoints have a voice and presence in your show.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in journalism, communications, or related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • 1-3 years of news content experience.
  • Top-notch communication skills.
  • Solid journalistic judgment and a news philosophy emphasizing accuracy, fairness, and unique local content, along with community engagement.
  • Understanding of professional journalism tenets.
  • Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content.
  • Strong social media skills, including an active presence on preferred platforms.
  • Organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to handle live, breaking news situations and changing events calmly.
  • ENPS and Edius system experience preferred.

Pay Range

$28.84 - $36.06 USD
