Morning News Spring Semester Intern

About the Role

WPHL-TV is looking for Spring Interns to gain hands-on experience in the morning news department. Interns will work closely with producers, anchors, and reporters both in-house and in the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist producers in researching and writing stories for the morning broadcast
• Contact sources for additional information as needed
• Edit video using Adobe Premiere (after training)
• Manage PHL17’s social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) during the show
• Coordinate and manage show guests before, during, and after their segments
• Learn camera equipment, camera shots, and reporting techniques in the field
• Function as a field producer by coordinating interviews and attending press conferences
• Shadow producers in the control room and potentially produce a portion of the show
• Receive guidance from anchors and reporters to craft a reel for on-air opportunities

Requirements

• Currently enrolled and taking classes at a college/university
• Junior or senior year of study
• Availability to work between the hours of 3:30 AM - 11:30 AM
• Reliable transportation
