About the role

The Good Day Wisconsin Producer will be responsible for the day-to-day production of WLUK/WCWF’s newscasts. This role involves working closely with the Executive Producer, Directors, Content Manager, and Anchors to produce engaging and informative newscasts. Duties include determining the content and flow of newscasts, generating and writing stories, and developing content for the website.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the content and flow of newscasts
  • Work with management and on-air staff to generate and write stories
  • Develop content for the website
  • Collaborate with the Executive Producer, Directors, Content Manager, and Anchors to produce engaging and informative newscasts
  • Execute news strategies and goals in daily newscasts
  • Show flexibility and on-the-spot problem-solving abilities

Requirements

  • Solid news judgment
  • Compelling and accurate writing skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
  • Experience in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Proficiency with non-linear editing (i.e. Avid) and newsroom systems (such as iNews)

Qualifications

  • At least some previous news producing experience at a commercial TV station
  • A journalism degree is preferred
